At about 5:30am today, Eldorado Water & Sanitation District's electronic monitoring system alerted the operating staff to a potential leak. When the operators investigated, they located the leak in the green belt between Bosque Loop and Monte Alto Road in Eldorado. Parts of Monte Alto Road, Altura Road, all of Mariano Road, Cuesta Road, Bosque Loop, and Carlito Road are affected by the outage. While initially a few hundred customers were affected, the staff have re-routed water to many customers; however, at this time, approximately 125 customers remain without water service. The District is arranging for drinking water delivery to these homes and additional water will be stored at the office at 1 Caliente in the parking lot.
The break is in an 8" pipe, which was encased in concrete. Work crews are currently excavating to locate sections where repairs can be made. Crews will work tonight and it is expected that service will be restored sometime tomorrow.
Status notices will be posted here on the District website and on the Business Office telephone at (505) 466-1085.
