About EAWSD

The Eldorado Area Water & Sanitation District (EAWSD) provides clean, safe, and reliable water services to almost 3,000 customer accounts in the unincorporated area around Eldorado in Santa Fe County, New Mexico. These accounts consist of  ~96% residential and ~4% non-residential units (including commercial and other public buildings). EAWSD is located in a semi-rural area of rolling hills, about 10 miles East of Santa Fe, New Mexico, among juniper and piñon trees near the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

EAWSD is a "quasi-municipality," a special district under New Mexico's Water & Sanitation District Act NMSA 1978, Sections 73-21-1 through 73-21-54.  EAWSD is publically-owned and governed by an elected Board of Directors. As a public and not-for-profit governmental entity, the District is dedicated to bringing the best and most economical water service possible to the ratepayers, while adhering to the laws of New Mexico and the regulations of the State Drinking Water Bureau and the EPA.

The District owns and operates all of its own facilities including distribution and collection systems and water treatment facilities. The District is responsible for reading and billing all of its customers on a monthly basis for water consumed.

The District's service area includes communities located on both sides of U.S. Highway 285 between I-25 and Lamy, and is centered approximately 10 miles southeast of the City of Santa Fe.  In looking at the District boundary map, keep in mind that boundaries are approximate; if you are near a boundary line, please come to the EAWSD Business Office and consult with the staff.
